Clearing Out

Kate's school had a garage/boot sale (or as Kate puts it: "Junk Sale") yesterday.  I frantically spent the last couple of weeks setting aside all of our "junk" to sell, as I got a table again this year.  And somehow, our helper managed to sell almost everything, and then give away the last few things on our way out, so we didn't have to take anything back home.  After a few minutes, I kind of stood to the side of our table, and then eventually moved away from it, as she was so good at hawking everything, and getting people to come to the table to look.  She managed to give people good deals, while still making sure we got some good cash for all the stuff.  In the end, the kids now have about HKD1,000 with which to buy new toys.  Total success, all of it down to her.  (unfortunately for the German guy across the way from us, who didn't sell much, as his stuff was way overpriced and he never went down on price)

Charlie had a successful day, too.  He made two incredible goals at football (on fire, he was), and then managed to use the HKD100 he was given to spend in the garage sale, buy about 20-odd things.  He kept disappearing, and then coming back to our table with a car....and then another car....and then a couple of dinosaurs...and a walking dinosaur (the biggest spend for him - HKD40)....a game....another car....another car....In all, he ended up with about 18 cars, all of them the most unusual ones I have ever seen.  I have to say, I am really impressed with the discernment and determination of this little 4 year-old!
Still two more cars to buy!
In the afternoon, we all had a little nap.  Charlie was the last to come into the bedroom.  From the looks of it, there must not have been any more room on the bed....
