The guys went off to play golf, so us girls and Charlie (honorary girl for the day) went to Monbazillac for the day. Mostly sightseeing, but some wine was purchased!
First lunch, as we got to the chateau just after they closed it for lunch. Here is my 'salad' - containing some of the foie gras I ate every day we were in France. If you look really closely, you can just see some lettuce in there.
French Kate
We told the kids there was a princess in the chateau. And, handily, the chateau obliged us by having secret doors everywhere, perhaps to where the princess was stashed!
The secret doors...
This was part of the rope-maker's exhibit, but we are convinced it is from the princess brushing all the knots out of her hair...
The wine room
There was this well with a grating over it. We noticed that some poor baby had dropped its dummy down it. As I was trying to get a photo of the sad little thing,
Kate leaned over to see, and
...now the princess in the chateau has a new pair of sunglasses...
And there were secret lookout points..
And cute kids
And Charlie doing some weird posing!
