The Long Run

I did it.

Months and months of preparation.  Hours and hours and hours of running.

And finally

5 hours and 15 minutes.

The day was hot (27 degrees), humid (95%) and sunny.  The run was fine (3 hours 30 minutes for the first 30K) until we emerged from the Western Tunnel for the last 8K.  For one, there were about two cups of water for the remaining runners, for 5K.  Secondly, that was where all the ups and downs started, where you go over all the overpasses in Central.  Oh. My. God.  Eventually I had to just walk up them and jog down.  At the 41K sign I perked up - 1.295K to go!  And then I rounded a corner to see.......another up ramp.  Aaaaagh!  When I finally got to the finish I was about to burst into tears.  But I remembered my photo was going to be taken, so I smiled big!

Here's me at the start (clueless, and hopeful of a sub-5 hour result)
