Bangkok

For Chinese New Year,

we headed to my cousin Oat's house in Bangkok.  He is always so generous and hospitable, having us to stay every time we go.  I like to use the kids' cuteness to incentivise him.

This time we flew business class, as all the normal tickets were sold out (Chinese New Year and all).  I think the kids are just a little bit too used to this life of luxury.  Charlie ate everything on offer, including the (very adult) cheese plate.

James has a membership at the RAC in England, which allows him to use reciprocal clubs around the world.  So we took advantage of that and went to the Royal Bangkok Sports Club a couple of times.

and I had forgotten about it, but they have Fanta Red in Thailand, which they don't have anywhere else, to my knowledge.  The kids discovered something miraculous about Fanta Red....

One day, we met up with Kate's friend from school, who was also holidaying in Bangkok.  We went to the aquarium and it was brilliant, as usual.  This time we did everything - the glass-bottomed boat, the little fishies that eat the dead skin off your feet and the popcorn and soda (we ate the popcorn, not the fishies)!

My cousin Klang took us to Ayudhaya for the famous seafood.  The flame-grilled tiger prawns are to die for.  Here they are before we ate them:

We also got to visit with almost all of the family (6 days is really not enough!).  The newer cousins,
the younger cousins,
we celebrated my cousin Klang's birthday...
...and we hit a few late evening venues.  The latest hit in Bangkok is going to a bar that is on top of a building.  We went to two, and the views were fabulous.

Scirocco

and Red

Very windy, though.  I thought we were going to get blown off the building at Scirocco.

All in all, a wonderful trip.
