Initially, Kate threw a massive paddy because she didn't want to wear the Indian dress that Dris' mother sent over - she wanted to wear her sparkly party dress. Oh, the screaming and crying there was. I, being the hard-hearted mother that I am, told her that we were either going in the dresses or not at all. So I got into my dress. Kate came hiccupping out of her room to see....and realised it was a very beautiful dress. "Is mine like that one?" "Yes, Kate, it is, but it is yellow, not pink and purple like mine" (I could see where this was going)"Why not?!?! Now I'm even more upset!" Cry, cry, scream, scream. "OK, Kate, I'm ready now, I'll see you later!" "Waiiiiiiiitttttt!!!" and she got (grudgingly) into her dress. When we got to Dris' place, we had a very grumpy girl. But, as she realised all the other little girls were in their Indian dresses (as were the mummies), she perked up, and then noticed how beautiful they all were. And then she loved them. And now she wants one of her own, just like the one she had ("But don't you want a pink one for yourself?" "Oh, yes, I want pink then" OK). And then she really got into the Indian dancing...here are Dris and Kate dancing...our future Bollywood stars!

They also had henna painting at the party.
We all got our hands done. I was really impressed at how long the children were willing to keep still while their hands were drying (you have to keep it still for 30 minutes!). Even Charlie sat there very seriously, waiting. And waiting. And waiting. Until he finally said,"Mummy, I want to walk around now!!" And then he had to wait in line to get it removed.
Here's Charlie's hands:
Here's all of ours:
And Charlie with his party gift bangles. He wanted to wear them to school the next day, but we told him "he might lose them"....
